In 2024 Anstruther Improvements Association (AIA) will begin a campaign to control Himalayan Balsam, an invasive, non-native species that is prevalent in a number of locations along the Dreel Burn corridor.

The AIA aims to eradicate Himalayan Balsam on the Dreel Burn and, with the help of volunteers and the support of landowners, this should be possible within 2 to 3 years.

Himalayan Balsam is annual, meaning that it grows, flowers, seeds and dies in a season. The AIA is seeking volunteers to help remove the plants before they seed, working their way downstream in early summer.

You can participate in the action to control Himalayan Balsam on the Dreel Burn by getting in touch here.
